Generation of tail-free short pulses using high-pressure CO2 laser

نویسندگان

چکیده

The spectral linewidth of a transversely excited pulsed CO2 laser is broadened at high working pressures. This phenomenon causes decrease in the upper-level lifetime such that pulse width significantly compressed. Although tail part pulses owns non-negligible proportion total energy, it has minor effects during interaction process between photons and materials due to its low amplitude. Thus, great significance yield generate narrow most applications. In this study, continuously tunable with nitrogen mixture developed tail-free short pulses; minimum 30.60 ns maximum energy 481 mJ synchronously achieved pressure 7 atm, estimated peak power above 15 MW. A numerical simulation also conducted for comparison experimental results. contribution gain toward compression discussed last section paper.

High-Energy Ion Generation by Short Laser Pulses

This paper reviews the many recent advances at the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science (CUOS) at the University of Michigan in multi-MeV ion beam generation from the interaction of short laser pulses focused onto thin foil targets at intensities ranging from 10 17 to 10 19 W/cm 2 . Ion beam characteristics were studied by changing the laser intensity, laser wavelength, target material, and by ...

Study of laser ablation using nano-second laser pulses

In this paper, the laser ablation process based on the irradiation of nanosecond pulsed lasers on a copper target surface in the presence of Helium gas is studied. The dynamical behaviors of the generated plasma in the helium gas and evaporated copper at the atmospheric pressure are examined using a laser pulse, laser wavelength of and intensity of 7×1010W/cm2. A one-dimensional thermal model ...

Enhanced high-harmonic generation using 25 fs laser pulses.

We present experimental and theoretical results on high-harmonic generation in noble gases using an 805 nm, 25 fs, titanium-doped sapphire laser. The harmonic energies observed are unexpectedly high when compared with experimental and theoretical results to date for longer excitation pulses. We observe that the efficiency of harmonic production is highest for shorter pulses. Furthermore, the wa...

Generation of high repetition rate far-infrared laser pulses

We report the generation of pulsed optically pumped far-infrared (FIR) radiation with a repetition rate of 200 kHz. These pulses were obtained in a straightforward method by pumping a FIR resonator with a high repetition rate, rf-excited, waveguide CO2 laser. Pulses approximately 50 ns wide were generated both at 432.6 m in HCOOH, and 117.7 +n in CH,F,. The pulse width of the FIR radiation was ...
